about

Living now in a cleaner part of town,
Your coworkers kind and true
At the cafe.
And you've been painting some dusky interiors;
I know those are chosen words
You smile when you say.

You're happy on your own
In the letter that you never sent back.
He's history,
You're getting over it fast;
And I will see you soon with your
Head bathed in radio light,
As you left me here and
Wandered off into the night.

A fracas breaks out in the alleyway
Off of Lyndale Avenue,
You're living there still;
And you're still sharing your bed with that piece of shit
Who sold off your precious stones
For a handful of thrills.

All these things you said
In the letter that you never sent back.
You're breaking down
And you're getting there fast.
If only I were here
I'd come and see you, I would,
Cause you need me now
And I would be there if I could.

See the alley view–late sun–
A spider knitting in the frames.
All that remains of you–some Sunday
And premonitions of a change.
See the maples stripped, the wind–
It scatters everything we've done.
All that remains of you–some light
A strand of gossamer has strung.
